The prestigious nautical destination with the extremely high business potential

The Croatian Adriatic is, most certainly, one of the most attractive nautical destinations of the Mediterranean, providing a unique experience to the nautical practitioners and experts, bidding them a visit to thousand of smaller and bigger islands, hundreds of bays and coves, ancient cities, historical monuments, crystal sea and exciting undersea world. Despite the indented coast and 1.200 islands, there are only 47 marinas in Croatia with approximately 16 thousand berths.

With regard to the number of vessels sailing in the Adriatic daily, Croatia, according to some studies, lacks some 15 000 berths in nautical tourist ports , and at least four marinas for mega-yachts which would be well connected and be situated in the vicinity of the airports.

If one compares Croatia to, for instance, Spain, one immediately recognizes Croatia’s potential; for Spain has eight islands, 180 marinas and 52 000 berths, while France, for example, has five islands, 250 marinas and 109 thousands berths.

In proportion, per costal area kilometer, Croatia, after Greece has the least number of berths on the Mediterranean, only 2,7. Due to all of the above, Croatia realizes 50% less revenue compared to what it could, if only there were marina construction investments.

This initiative is at the moment fully in the competence of private investors. Different statistic data show that some 35 000 yachts sail in the Croatian Adriatic during the season. Due to the lack of berths, they cannot sail in, therefore they anchor in the inadequate places. In the recent years, Croatia has been visited by the richest men in the world, who sail on 40 meter vessels, but the possibility of reception, with regard to the existent capacities, is neglectable. Almost one half of the Croatian marinas (21) is the property of the ACI company, owned by the State, which realizes approximately one half of the total gain. The data which definitely speaks in favor of the attractiveness and good perspective of the Croatian nautical tourism, is the fact that Dubrovnik marina is amongst top five most attractive destinations in the word. The investments in the marinas are, at the moment, most favorable investment options with sure gain.
